Benson Optical began as a small finishing laboratory in 1981. Recognizing a need for a unique optical experience in the North West they expanded in 1985, to function as a full-service lab and optical dispensary. Incorporating Sight Testing into their business model more than 20 years ago, Benson Optical is still operated by its original owners. Over 44 years later, they remain dedicated to a tradition of family-oriented service, high-quality eyewear and excellence in Opticianry.
Brad and Carolyn Benson– the owners – have helped many people experience their best possible vision over the decades. Doing business in the area for so many years, some of our earliest clients now bring their children and grandchildren into our store. These relationships are very important to us, we feel privileged to play such an important role in our clients lives. Being a part of a small community we are humbled by our friends and neighbors who are always willing to lend a hand when needed.

We started in this business due to our passion for the community, coupled with our entrepreneurial spirits. Since then we have grown and overcome many challenges, both in our own community and the optical profession as a whole. We constantly evolve and adapt to incorporate new technologies and upgrade our skills and knowledge. We are deeply obliged to our loyal customers who have helped us be progressive and viable throughout these years. Their support has made it possible for local dollars to stay within the community.
The natural beauty of the area contributes to the quality of life in Terrace. There are many ways to enjoy the outdoors without traveling far. We also note that there are many innovative independent businesses that contribute to Terrace’s quality of life and culture. We are proud to be a part of the vibrant downtown area and are pleased to be active members of the Terrace & District Chamber of Commerce and the Terrace Downtown Improvement Area.
